Been off since Good Friday, March 21 and loving it.  We had our pre-Easter dinner at Ron and Pauline’s corned beef and turkey, then leg of lamb with ko chee chong marinade Easter Sunday dinner, changed car oil on Friday and then shopped with Nee on Monday.  Saw Dr. Chin and got my crown on Tuesday, ate lunch with Diane on Thursday, dwwdwp with Pauline on Friday, saw Mom on Saturday and ate lunch and shopped with Bruce on Sunday.  Now it’s back to those 1st graders and the Rain forest will be raining on us again!  Good knitting, good naps and a lot of cooking for the kids, stinky and Bruce.  Next day off will be Memorial Day in May….hanging on by my cracking chewed off nails.

My hands and arms are so stiff and buzzy…I think I’m over doing it.  Anyway, finished scarf for Adrianne’s (“I want a green scarf with a little fur.”), Tiffany’s (I want a green scarf with no fur.”), and Christine’s (“I want lots of fur.”).  They’re beautiful.  Also am finishing up a dishcloth blanket for Ariel and Wedo’s baby who was suppose to be a boy but turned out to be a girl.  Poor thing.  Had lunch with Diane H today at Pleasanton’s Cheescake Factory – so good!  Had the raspberry lemon cheesecake – the tartness makes you feel that you’re not eating that many calories.  It was fun looking at shoes and shopping the Origin’s counter with my old bud.  A good time was had by all and I got to kill off another gift card.  It’s been a good week – a lot of knitting, cleaning up some of the bags of stuff in the living and dining room, sleeping in, watching Oprah, playing with Stinky, shopping with Nee, and cooking lots of Brandon and Bruce’s favs.  All in all a good week!  Tomorrow will be the crowning glory – a dwwdwp day (do whatever we damn well please day) – to begin no later than 7:30 to get in a full 12 hours of dwwdwp.  These are always good.  Watch out bay area, here we come.

Nee and Mommy day

March 25, 2008

Buying make up at Nordstrom’s, looking at purses at Coach, using our Harry and David’s gift certificate, using our See’s Candy gift certificate, paying $2.50 extra for the bow on the package (trust me it was cute and worth it), buying a new WII game – Zelda at Best Buy, trying on shoes at DSW and buying 3 pairs (2 for nee and 1 for mom), getting curry katsu chicken and combination misubi platters, coming home after dad came home (and we couldn’t sneak in with all our bags).  It was a great let mom spoil you day and I enjoyed every minute.  Keep those Korean lesson up, Nee!

Emmett Goo is leaving for Southern California – he’ll be saying his first words, taking his first steps, going to preschool for the first time, saying “powder”, popping teeth, first haircut, potty training, singing in a preschool presentation, eating at McDonald’s, learning to use chop sticks, FIRST BIRTHDAY (WAAAAHHHHHH) in So Cal.  This is not OK and as stated, leave the baby here and no one will get hurt!

Soccer Coach

March 21, 2008

Yup, that’s the new item on her resume.  She’s really pretty good even though she was out of breath leading the warm up run around the campus.  There’s talk of matching headbands and well informative emails to parents and team members…she’s growing up and organized and has a clip board and cute sunglasses.  What more do you need to coach junior high girls. :)   I’m a proud soccer mom in a different sense now.  sigh….

Fondue for you

March 16, 2008

img_6265.jpghb, neeShe wanted fondue for her birthday dinner.  I guess I can let the cholesterol medicine do its work tonight.  22 years old – old enough to go to jail by yourself, but not old enough to keep dishes, cups, out of the bedroom.  Happy Birthday, Choo – we love you and your stinky dog.

So I basically went to the Memorial Service to be supportive to Pastor Sherman and Marti, Christy, et al. but I was taken through a most wonderful afternoon recalling the life of a very wonderful servant of God.  Wow…I came away thinking I knew this man before I knew this man…His influence touched my very insignificant existence in the 70’s.  Pastor W was one of the founder so the BASS organization and annual conventions, Dr. Howard Hendricks video’d his eulogy to his dear life long friend of over 40 years, his children lovingly paid tribute to their father and last but not least, we sat in the church he help found.

Then we saw old friends from our recent past, the Cinquinis, the Creacys, Lori Ann, Yvette and Scott Clarey, the Gables, the Tegners, the Phillips, the Bromleys, Nelda Olson and many more.  I cried through a lot of this very loving tribute to this great Christian leader and recall my last brief conversation with him and Ruth at Starlight Carols in early December.  I know that Ruth, his wife of over 60 years will be very lonely without him, even though family will be around.  She’s a great lady, but she was a greater wife – so I know it won’t be long that the Lord will reunite her with her best friend.

Thanks to the whole Williams clan…when I lost my dad, I wanted to be left alone a lot.  So even in this time of grief, which is so deep and personal, they graciously shared their dad and husband’s life with the rest of us, and we are better for that experience.  Thank you for everything, Pastor Williams and we’ll see you when we meet again.

Parent teacher conferences are a necessity of life, school, students, parents, etc. but what do you do when you’re sick of hearing yourself talk conference after conference.  My coffee breath is catching up with me, my feet hurt, the “dinner” school served with good intention threatens to repeat itself for days, and my throat feels like yesterday’s newspaper.

“your child doing fine…yes, he/she’s in line for 2nd grade…calm the hell down (I don’t really say the last line)…”  Go home, mom and dad and love on them while they still talk to you.
