It’s almost time

May 31, 2008

With this recent illness, it looks like Mom’s ready to go home to the Lord.  She was hospitalized and they got her stable and don’t see any of her ongoing symptoms as “reverseable”.  She’s in a different room for more privacy should the end come soon.  We’re going to see her tomorrow.  Lots of stuff is swirling that separately would be kind of tough to deal with, but altogether, it’s kind of numbing and efficient to get this stuff overwith.  Larry wants me to move into Kindergarten next year, Brandon is moving out which I thought wouldn’t phase me as much as it has, and Mom’s ready to go home.

She’s not in any discomfort or pain, but she’s not eating, sleeping and lethargic, not communicating in words or in gestures.  Jeremy saw her today and said that she at least focused on him for a bit.  When Bruce and I went to see her Sunday, she had a glazed over look in her eyes, not really focusing on any of us.  She refused to eat, but they were able to force some Boost into her.  I fed her some of that too.  I asked her many questions, but she didn’t nod or shake her head, except to refuse food.  When I asked her “Are you ready to go see Dad soon?”, that was the only time she looked me in the eye and nodded.  I think she knows that it’s almost time.

In the Lord’s time and in His hand, we commit Mom’s life.  Amen.
