The Phantom

Was a good production…last time we saw this, it was at the Curran and Orpheum is bigger, so more bang and chandelier, etc.  The Phantom was short though and the Christine didn’t seem ingenue-ish enough.  The Phantom was the best singer of the main characters and I actually heard some flat notes from Christine Daie (mercy).  Carlotta was great and I also enjoyed the 2 theater owners and their bantering song.  Seats were great…orchestra and not under the balcony on the aisle (for Bruce) and close enough to see everything!  We took BART and got back around midnight.  A mid-week adventure for these old folks, “illuminating” and a treat for the “senses as we abandon our defenses” (but not too much or you’ll get mugged on BART).
